Coors Field ProjectAt the beginning of the fist semester for Lights Academy we went on a field trip to Coors Field in Denver Colorado. Several weeks prior to this trip, our teacher Mr Black introduced to us a new concept which he called 360 Degree Questioning. Essentially, this was the idea that whatever you are learning about or interested in, you look at from 360 point of view, rather than just taking it at face-value. So to practice 360 degree questioning, we took Coors Field as the subject of our inquiry. For the first month of school, most of what we spent our time on was thinking of questions regarding Coors Field, of which you wouldn't normally spend time thinking about or let alone researching. We thought and researched questions about the structure, orientation, systems, income, name, field, and the design of Coors Field, and even took our research to another level by making calls or emailing members of Coors Field. On September 3rd, 2014 we physically went to Coors Field as to get some last answers, and to conclude our research. This project is all about my path of inquiries and the steps I took to get answers. What would it look like if...?For the 4th quarter of Lights Academy (2014-2015), we were assigned another project that we could choose the topic of based off our interest, but we had to format the driving question for our project so that it started with the phrase "What would it look like if...?". I decided to go the extremely far off space theory direction, my question being "What would it look like if humans inhabited hundreds of planets and solar systems within our galaxy?". I will be recording my project findings and conclusions on a blog. Within this project I have certain requirements and will be adding these to my blog page as my project progresses. Interstellar; Long Term ProjectOver the month of November and some of December (2014), my Lights Academy class was assigned a project of which we could choose the topic, and coordinate the ways in which we gained information. We had to create several checkpoints for ourselves to make sure that our project was on track and we were learning enough information necessary for a final project. I, for example, did 4 checkpoints along the way, and they were things like doing a certain amount of research, getting an interview with an expert in the field that I am learning about, and combining all the information to answer my driving question. A driving question is just a question that we created at the beginning of the project to drive all of our project work. My driving question was "Is it possible for humans to go interstellar?". Problem SolvingThis was a project we did in October that was designed by our teacher to find a problem in the world and try to find a solution. The problem that I chose to try and solve was the problem of teenagers not knowing important real world skills when they get out of high school. Click on the title to see what I found out about this solution and how I think it should be solved.
